Hey everyone, it’s Laure live from Luz’ with the recap of NXT on November 12, 2024 !

The show opened tonight with a Tag-Team match featuring Jakara Jackson and Lash Legend on one side, and Giulia and Stephanie Vaquer on the other. The two teams had clashed twice last week, so what better way to clear the air than a match!

The match was pretty cool; the teams were well-balanced, and everyone got to showcase their skills. But of course, there has to be a winner: Vaquer and Giulia finished the match with a Double Knee on Jackson, who stayed down for the pin. Blake Howard then stepped into the ring to interview the two winners: "You’ll be competing in the qualifiers for the Iron Survivor Challenge. How do you feel about that?"

The two partners exchanged a look, and Giulia replied that she always knew this day would come. Stephanie Vaquer followed up by saying they would see each other again at Deadline. Let’s hope for their sake they do—seeing them face off could be exciting!

But what exactly is the "Iron Survivor Challenge"? NXT showed a video explaining the match: it’s a 25-minute showdown featuring five participants who enter one at a time. The goal? To score as many pins as possible (submissions also count) within those 25 minutes! So, you’re fighting opponents, yes, but also against the clock! Every second counts, and for those who get pinned, they’re locked in a penalty box for 90 seconds—which is definitely a bummer! The winners get a shot at the NXT titles, so they’ll need to be efficient and avoid taking too many hits!

Tonight marked the start of the qualifiers for the Iron Survivor Challenge. The women kicked it off with a match between Sol Ruca and Cora Jade for a spot at Deadline. Jade acts too tough, so it was satisfying to see Ruca surf over her—hilarious. And I love when karma strikes because Ruca won with her stylish Sol Snatcher. So, we have our first qualifier for Deadline!

Backstage, we find Je’Vons Evans and Cedric Alexander, both of whom have qualifying matches tonight, motivating each other. Great energy! We leave them to check in on Karmen Petrovic chatting with Dion Lennox. He casually asks her favorite color, like he's showing interest, but Petrovic is still hung up on that player Ashante Adonis. Then, Brinley Reece jumps in to tell her, “Forget about that loser,” but Adonis shows up too.

*Sigh.* He says something like, “Are you really going to hook up with my best friend?” *Sigh again.* Lennox seems surprised to learn he’s Adonis’s friend, and then someone suggests that Petrovic and Adonis team up for a Tag-Team match since there seems to be some unresolved tension. I sigh a third time and think, “This storyline is really starting to drag. What’s going on here?” The only good move for Petrovic is to walk away from this loser and focus on herself, so let’s stop giving her questionable advice, please? And Adonis, cut the hot-and-cold act already!

Wow, I may have gotten a little too worked up over that last segment, considering they don’t deserve this much mental energy! Anyway, we move on to a scene where Ava is rallying NXT’s Tag-Team division. She pumps them up with, “Let’s show that our tag division is the best.” The different teams start hyping themselves up, and Ava says she likes their energy and looks forward to seeing which of them can prove themselves.

Next up is another qualifying match for Deadline, but this time for the men: Wes Lee versus Cedric Alexander. Another cool match, ending in Alexander’s defeat. At one point, Lee accidentally pulled off the padding from a corner post, so when Alexander charged at him, Lee just dodged, causing Alexander to slam his head into the exposed metal.

This, of course, allowed Wes Lee to follow up with a Running Double Knee and pin Alexander for the three-count. Not the cleanest win, but it didn’t change the outcome: Lee moves forward to Deadline.

We’re then back at the restaurant, you know, NXT’s “Don” headquarters. He’s enjoying some fine pasta when Brooks Jensen and Shawn Spears come up to his table. Jensen makes it clear he’s interested in the title, saying he’s seen others come here to challenge D’Angelo and doesn’t want to miss his chance at becoming champion. Like Tony, he wants to provide for his family, which is why he’s asking for a shot at Jensen.

The Don seems to find this decision absurd, but Spears reminds him that he doesn’t comment on the Don’s decisions, so D’Angelo shouldn’t do it about his. All he wants is the title. So, expect a Jensen/D’Angelo showdown in the coming weeks. Maybe at Deadline?

In an interview, we see Kelani Jordan, who’s got her North American Championship rematch in the main event. The former champ says she’s been waiting for this moment since Halloween Havoc and fully intends to reclaim her title. Then, Jacy Jane and Jazmyn Nyx arrive to warn her that they’ll be there with Fallon Henley tonight to make sure she keeps the title. No surprises there!

Back in the ring, we have a segment with Trick Williams, who’s here to speak to the audience. He’s not here to talk about last week’s intense Philly crowd, but rather about Ridge Holland—the one who covered for him and now thinks he can beat him. Williams invites Holland to come to the ring, but instead, Chase U’s music hits.

Andre Chase comes through the crowd and says right off the bat that he has no issues with Trick, but he still has a grudge against Holland (understandable, given their history!). The champ is understanding: “Dude, after all he’s put you through, you’re still standing, and that deserves some applause.” Williams pays tribute to Chase’s accomplishments in NXT but points out that, despite everything Chase has achieved, he’s never had a shot at the main title. So, why not…?

“EXCUSE ME?!”

Ridge Holland storms in, incredulous at what he’s hearing: “Is this guy really getting a title shot?” He argues that the champ is scared and would rather give a title shot to someone he put in an ambulance not long ago (and it’s true). He beat Williams last week in the ECW arena and is the biggest threat in NXT right now.

Andre Chase interrupts Holland, saying, “Man, I’m not done with you yet; I want another match.” Holland responds flatly that it’s not going to happen, so Chase tries to negotiate: “If you want, I’ll put Chase U on the line; if I lose, it’ll be yours.” Man, you’re pretty confident to put everything you’ve built on the line!

Holland says he doesn’t care about that “stupid university” and only wants the NXT Championship. Williams then steps in: “Ridge, you want a title shot, and Andre, you want a match with Holland to kick his ass. So it’s simple: next week, you fight, and the winner gets a title shot at Deadline.” The champ even states his support, saying he hopes Chase wins, considering everything he’s done with Chase U and the relationships he’s built.

“That’s exactly what I want!” Holland interrupts, adding one more risky twist for next week’s match: if Andre Chase loses, he’ll have to give up his ties with Duke Hudson, Thea Hail, and Riley Osborne, and Chase U will be no more. Chase accepts the high-stakes challenge, putting everything he’s built on the line.

Holland can’t help but throw a punch (just for good measure), but Williams takes him down, and together, Chase and Williams give Holland a lesson. Honestly, Ridge, what did you expect in a 2-on-1 situation?

Next, we get a video of Jaida Parker congratulating Sol Ruca on qualifying for the Iron Survivor Challenge, but warning that she’ll qualify too and plans to win at Deadline, just like when she smashed Lola Vice last week (which was pretty funny, by the way).

In Ava’s office, she’s with Josh Briggs and a wrestler from NOAH, but we don’t see much of them, as Eddy Thorpe arrives to talk to Ava. He’s frustrated by his current lack of action, so Ava gives him a qualifying match for the Iron Survivor Challenge.

We then move on to a grudge match: Nikkita Lyons had attacked Adriana Rizzo a few weeks ago, and it’s time to settle the score. Rizzo is fired up and ready to fight, which is totally understandable! But sometimes, life isn’t fair, as her desire for revenge won’t be enough to take down Lyons, who eventually crushes her with a Splash and takes the win.

But wait, who says revenge has to be strictly... legal or moral? She may have lost the match, but Rizzo grabs a crowbar and hits Lyons from behind, setting things right—and honestly, it’s well-deserved!

Backstage, all of Chase U confronts Andre Chase, saying, “Are you crazy?” “You shouldn’t have done that,” “Imagine what could happen…” Chase tries to reassure everyone: they built the university on taking risks, they’ve overcome tough situations together, and he won’t let anyone tear them apart. He promises to win the title opportunity next week and lead Chase U to the top of NXT. Though, his teammates don’t seem too convinced.

We then get a super intense video from Zaria, who says people think she’s an enigma, but in reality, she’s a fearless destroyer, an Iron Survivor, and by the end, there will be no mystery about who Zaria really is. Honestly, this girl is terrifying—I don’t trust her at all!

The final match of the night is another Iron Survivor Challenge qualifier: Je’Von Evans and Lexis King are both fighting for a spot at Deadline. King cracks me up trying to be the “nice guy” during the match. At one point, he accidentally headbutts Evans where it hurts and looks all embarrassed about it. Kind of adorable, really!

Anyway, despite that little incident, the match continued, and Evans managed to win with his Twisted Splash, followed by the three-count. I wouldn’t want to be in King’s shoes right now: no one likes him, no one trusts him, and he just keeps losing lately. Really, it must be hard to keep his spirits up!

Evans, however, is a good sport and goes over to comfort King, congratulating him and giving him a hug in the ring—now, isn’t that sweet!

Backstage, we catch up with the tag team champions, where Nathan Frazer announces that he’s requested a qualifying match from Ava. This doesn’t sit well with Axiom, but Frazer just shrugs it off. They’re then interrupted by OTM, who are quickly interrupted by La Familia, and within seconds, a full-on brawl breaks out, forcing officials to step in and separate them.

In the locker room, Adonis and Lennox seem to be back on the same page, and then we spot Lexis King, who’s getting a pep talk from Dante Chen, Hank Walker, and Tank Ledger. Right then, members of Gallus arrive and start arguing with Hank and Tank. Um, excuse me, but what’s going on here? Did every team decide today’s the day to start throwing punches?

And now, we finally get to the main event of the evening: the North American Championship rematch between Fallon Henley and Kelani Jordan. The match is pretty intense, and we see that the tag division is still brawling backstage. Henley seems frustrated that Jordan isn’t backing down so easily. Well, what did you expect, girl? You needed three people and some cheating to beat her last time. Did you really think you’d have the upper hand in a fair 1-on-1 match?

Realizing she’s struggling, Henley’s two pals come in to help. Jacy Jane breaks up a pin that could have been fatal for the champ. Jordan notices and starts fighting with the other two members of Fatal Influence, and as you’d expect, now that it’s become a 1-on-3, things aren’t going to end well for Jordan! Sure enough, after yet another sneak attack by Jane while the ref’s back is turned, Henley follows up with a Fameasser, securing the win and retaining her title.

No big surprises here given the outcome, but—wait, what? OTM just grabbed the announcer’s headset and declared that they’re easy to find if anyone wants to dispute who’s the best team in NXT. And now chaos erupts: La Familia, Hank and Tank, Gallus—the whole tag division is brawling. The officials can’t break it up, it’s mayhem!

This is going to be something to watch next week, especially for the tag team champions!

It was Laure with the recap of NXT!
